How to use remove background
- Choose a photo with a clear main subject.
- Select AI removal or pick a background colour and tolerance.
- Inspect the transparent result and download your PNG.
Good to know
The AI tool uses the lightweight U2-Net model at a 320 x 320 analysis resolution. It works best with a clear foreground subject. Hair, glass, fine edges, low contrast and several overlapping subjects may not produce a clean result. AI downloads public runtime and model files on first use; your image is not sent to those hosts. Solid-colour removal is fully local and is not AI segmentation.
A few useful answers
Why does AI take longer the first time?+
The browser needs to download its WebAssembly runtime and a roughly 4.4 MiB model. Later loads may use the browser cache. Speed depends on your connection and device.
Can I remove a white background without the AI download?+
Yes. Choose Solid colour, select white and adjust tolerance. This removes matching colours throughout the image, including matching colours inside the subject.
